Breasts after breast feeding

Dd is 17 weeks now and I'm starting to wonder what state my breasts will be in when I stop feeding her. Any positive stories of perky norks?

lmao...perky norks....
saying that after bf ds1 the damage wasn't all that bad, lol! But after being pg and bf 3 children...my boobs are just flat and empty, lol...never mind...!

BettySpaghetti · 09/09/2006 10:22

Someone on here recently linked to a website where woman posted pictures of their norks (perky and otherwise! ) to illustrate how different everyone is. It was a similar site to the Body of a Mother (?) site with pictures of tummies pre and post bump etc.

Anyway, to get to the point, there were women and girls on there who were really young and hadn't had babies that had "flat and empty" boobs. There was every size and shape you could imagine -it just demonstrated that the image we have of everyone else but us having perky norks is a myth.

The perfect boobs we see on TV, magazines etc are often surgically enhanced and not at all real. Remember that yours have done the most important job -fed and nourished your little one .

If someone can link to that site again take a look. I've breastfed two babies and, TBH, I don't think I've come out of it too badly when I looked at the norks of everyday women on there.

hi, i bf ds for around 14 wks nearly 6yrs ago, i have since bf dd for 12mths that was 12mths ago, when i started i was a nice perky 34dd and now im a tiny bit less perky 36dd/e depending on how much i spend on a bra......

so mine are lovely perky norks still....xx

3andnomore · 09/09/2006 12:30

Oh, also, I believe it's actually pg that does the harm...not breastfeeding!

MrsApronstrings · 09/09/2006 12:32

I agree with you 3anm -

FrannyandZooey · 09/09/2006 12:58

I have breastfed for 3.5 years, and to be honest I think it is ruddy amazing that mine are still in as good nick as they are. Things could be a lot worse, I promise you.

A good bra works wonders for self confidence (and if you are feeling shy you can always keep it on )

motherinferior · 09/09/2006 13:00

My norks have not only fed two babies, but also belong to a 43 year old. They aren't quite what they were but they're still in pretty damn good shape. I wore a low-cut top and a plunge bra the other day and a total stranger stopped his motorbike to ask me out, which I think was a pretty good nork-achievement given that I was old enough to be his mum

Greensleeves · 09/09/2006 13:01

Mine look like boiled aubergines. It's the least of my worries

QueenEagle · 09/09/2006 13:05

I've breast fed 5 babies and they were norks to be proud of when they were plump and full of milk.

As it's 18 months since I last used them for lactating they have gone someone flat but nothing a good push up bra can't fix. And dh can't keep his hands off them so can't be all that bad!!

MrsApronstrings · 09/09/2006 13:06

mine are terrible

Twiglett · 09/09/2006 13:07

I breastfed DS to 4.5 months and DD to 11 months

The woman in Rigby & Peller (posh bra shop) commented on how good my boobs were, but said she didn't believe I had breastfed ..
I have spectacular norks

is that positive enough for you?

Twiglett · 09/09/2006 13:07

at MI biker story .. its been so long since a biker asked me out

memo to self .. find out what plunge bra is and buy one

motherinferior · 09/09/2006 13:09

It's a Rigby and Peller one, Twiggy. Probably bought from the same bird who did you, as I got a similar response.

(I've seen Twiglett, and can testify that she has the norks of a nork-goddess.)

LaDiDaDi · 09/09/2006 13:33

Just what I needed to hear ladies. Mine are looking great at the moment, like I've had a very small, subtle boob job compared with pre-preg and I would feel sad if I went from this to two empty sacks iykwim.

Also, I have been assured that what they look like the week after you stop bf-ing is not necessarily what you are going to be stuck with. In time (ok, a year or two ) some of the fat is replaced so they will plump up again to some extent.

motherinferior · 09/09/2006 13:39

Honestly, mine look pretty OK even without the loving ministrations of R&P.

FrannyandZooey · 09/09/2006 13:43

Yep mine are not too bad (ok I am still breastfeeding once or twice a day on one side but it is a pretty desultory affair. Both sides look about the same IMO). You have to stop thinking in terms of what they looked like when you were 19. Admittedly it is a shock at first after the glories of pregnant and breastfeeding breasts

serenity · 09/09/2006 13:48

Mine are definitely lower, but definitely not 'empty bags'. and I've bf three. DD was just over 2 when she stopped. I'm not sure if it's because I fed her for so long , so it was a very gradual finish, but my breasts didn't change at all after I stopped.

Dh is happy with them, and I still get good cleavage with a decent bra, plus I can can still get away with the minimal support of one of those spaghetti tops with shelves (iyswim, can't remember the proper name, lol)

They've given good service, and don't need writing off yet

CJinSussex · 09/09/2006 14:24

MI should be MS. Great nork work.

I b/f for about 3 years in total, they're a bit lower but still pretty good. Not sure what would happen if I lost all my extra baby weight (given that last baby is 2 next week this is most unlikely to happen anyway...)
