Night feeds at 7 months?

My 7 month old DD is currently still having a bottle at night which I am ok with but my hv advised I need to try to stop this as she shouldn't be having this passed 6 months. She also advised she needs to be having just 2 bottles a day and 3 meals a day by 8 months which seems very soon. Please can anyone clarify this as I don't entirely trust what she is saying. Also if I do need to stop the night feed any advice on how I can do this without causing distress? I would prefer her to just stop this on her own really.

*past! Silly auto correct. Also by night bottle I mean bottle in the middle of the night, it can be as early as 12 or as late as 4am and she always drinks the full 7oz. Tia.

Do what works for you. My ds2 is 20 months and still has two bottles in the night and will only drink milk during the day.

As long as your dd is eating a varied diet alongside the milk and isn't too heavy for her height then carry on as you are.

My eldest three DCs were still having one bottle in the night and three during the day until 15 months and they're all perfectly fine.

HVs can be a bit obsessed with babies sleeping through, mine was shocked that ds2 was still waking at 12 months and wanted me to sleep train him but I refused.

My eldest three stopped waking by themselves by about 18 months and have always slept through since, except when they're ill.

Even when she is having three full meals a day she should be having about 3x 7oz bottles so the HV is wrong on that! If her intake drops to below 17oz a day before 12 months you need to supplement with vitamin drops as she won't be getting enough through her milk.

Lots, maybe even most babies have a night feed passed 6 months. There's no "shouldn't be" about it - do what suits you and your baby, not the HV.

Thanks that's definitely reassuring. I doubt she'll get below 17oz she loves her milk. 3 7oz bottles sounds much better for her, why do hv give wrong advice I thought they were professionals!
