Hi, I have 5 wo twins.
Background - I am combination feeding them having exclusively given them expressed breast milk. They currently feed every 3 hours and 5-6 of their bottles are breast milk. Only 2 or 3 night feeds are formula. Each feed they usually take 4-5 oz although the 2/3am feed can be as little as 2oz. Some nights they will go longer than 3 hours between feeds but rarely.
My issue (if you can call it that) is that from their evening feed at around 6pm until approx 9pm they literally do not stop eating!!! They will down their usual 4oz and once they have been burped they are screaming like they have never been fed before. They will then do at least another 5oz sometimes more within this 3 hour period. Then they will sleep and with all that milk you'd think they would sleep for ages... Nope! They will wake at 10 or 11 as if the additional bottles they had hadn't existed! They do this every night and have done for the last 2 weeks!
I have a 2 year old as well and although he would cluster feed while I was breast feeding he wasn't like this. I thought maybe this was just cluster feeding but the purpose of cluster feeding at this age is to stimulate more milk production and at the end of the day they don't get lots of milk from doing this so why would they be doing it when they can have all the milk they want?!
