EBF suddenly rejecting bottles

My DS is 5 months. He is EBF but has taken expressed milk from a bottle as and when we've needed him to since he was about 1 month.

I'm due to have my first full night away from him in a fortnight (DSis's hen do so DH will have him all to himself) and now DS has has decided to refuse the bottle).

I've heard of some EBF babies refusing a bottle, but not when they've taken it quite happily in the past.

Has anyone had a similar experience or could offer any advice please?

I had exactly the same problem - I think baby Bone would have carried on taking a bottle if we'd done it often enough, but it was a bit of a hassle when it wasn't necessary. We used a sippy cup for water from about 5 and a half months, which was messy but might have done at a push (I had to keep taking the cup away to give him chance to swallow.) We found a beaker with a straw works best, though. I bought one of these from a local shop for a pound and there is a lot less spillage.

My baby took a bottle every day till he was about 4mo then just refused.
Sorry.
I gave up in the end but he was a fantastic eater from day 1 at 5.5mo so I used food to keep him going if I needed to leave him.

Both mine were BF with one bottle a day.
DD1 lasted 8 weeks before bottle refusing.
DD2 made it to 8 months before flatly refusing the bottle!
We didn't fight that hard to continue to be fair but it wasn't worth the stress.
If it matters you'll have t keep fighting.
You might well find that with you gone he will just take it from Daddy. I had a friend that did that and it worked for them.

My DS has been a bottle refuser since day 1. I think he's begrudgingly had an ounce shoved down his throat about 3 times ever. So no nights off for me...

DS2 had a couple of bottles and then point blank refused from about 4 months, I think it's quite common even for babies who've had a bottle every day.

Could you try a cup? DS2 got the hang of a Doidy cup pretty much straight away, then moved on to the Nuk soft spout sippy.

Unfortunately some of them just do this. It doesn't seem to make a difference if they've had one before.

Try one of the brown latex teats rather than the clear silicon ones.

How far away will you be? I would go and just keep fingers crossed! He could try a cup if he's not taking it from the bottle.
