My 18mo DS has refused breast before bedtime, and instead ran to the fridge and asked for cow's milk. Nearly made me cry... He only breasfeeds mornings and evenings now, but last couple of days I was working later than usual, and would only come home after he had his dinner and some cow's milk. So when he did not want to breastfeed I assumed he was not hungry/thirsty. But today I was back early, and offered breast before he had any cow's milk... I know he is growing up, but I hoped to feed him until he is at least two, I don't feel ready to stop. Obviously, I cannot force him, if he doesn't want anymore, but it just made me sad. Is that it? He still wants to go on breast first thing after waking up, so I hope we'll keep at least that for a while.

I've heard that with many the morning feed is the last to go - so chances are you may carry on doing that one for a good while yet?

Thank you, CityDweller. I hope so too, it the only thing that keeps him in bed after 5 am! It just felt so sad when he asked for cow's milk instead. But I guess it is better when he decides when to stop.
