I was just about to batch cook some dinners for when baby arrives but have been advised to avoid spicy food. I was going to do a chicken curry and a chilli. Shall I avoid doing these or just tame them down a bit?

They sound like ace meals. Apart from loads of booze and massive amounts of caffeine there isn't much you can't eat or drink while breastfeeding.

Myth that you should avoid spicy food. Just eat what you like! Some mothers feel there is a connection for them, individually, and for their individual babies. But would be madness to anticipate that :)

What hazchem said. Eat what you like. :)

I come from a mixed background and my older relatives suggest certain herbs and spices be added to meals as 'fortifying' after the exhaustion of birth. Considering that is their old-wives thing, so has been around much longer than formula, logic dictates they wouldn't hurt baby!

Given that much of the Asian continent eat lots of spicy food and breastfeed you can safely assume that this is an old wives tale.

Fair point! Common sense prevails!
