Dark threads in nappy

Isla is 5 weeks old and EBF. She has been a bit unsettled for the last couple of days which I had put down to heat.

But today she's been out of sorts, feeding for only 10-15 minutes at a time before falling asleep for up to about half an hour and waking up immediately upset. Feeding stops her crying, but but feels more like a distraction than the cure...

Her last two nappies have had dark threads in (brownish colour, look like some kind of protein strand), but otherwise normal for us (yellow, no curds).

Any thoughts?

Thanks x

If she were older I'd blame bananas which have this effect. Is it possible that she's ingested some fibers from clothing or blankets? Perhaps stray fibers from your nursing bra that have gotten into her mouth?

I don't think so, they looked thicker than that. very odd. Gone since this morning. She is a bit coldy I think, so I wonder if it could be snot (nice)? Not sure why it would go brown though. I have my 6 week check on Tuesday so if it happens again I'll check with the GP.

Thanks!
