Mastitus

Wasn't sure where to post this one thought this maybe best place.

I have mastitus again 2nd time in a month, went to see GP today. She was more concerned about the lump near nipple. I thought it was part of mastitus but she said she wanted to see me again in a week when mastitus is cleared up to examine lump. Should I be worried?

Also she suggested I don't continue trying to restart breast feeding. (She perscribed very strong antibiotics, don't know if this is the reason) DD needed feeding so was trying to get out asap, should have stopped to ask really.

I don't think the lump is anything sinister if that 's what you mean, I also had mastitis twice with dd1 and once with dd2 so I know what you are going tho=rough - poor you. I think the combination of pregnancy, birth , brestfeeding and mastitis do all sorts of weird and often painful things to the breasts and I should think the lump will dissolve eventually, it is probably a very hard blocked duct. It may even need to be drained.
Will your dd take a bottle?
hope you feel better soon. Each time I had mastitis I felt like hell.

i covered up my mastitis (i had PND obviously) and left it for too long. my breasts went a funny colour and i had lumps appearing. i wouldn't think it was anything to worry about but it's something that GP's like to check out.
hope it clears up soon for you.

had mastitis loads with third(in both breasts at one point)and it is hell.i was told to breast feed as regulary as possible, try different feeding positions to ensure all ducts are draining and i took a homeopathic remedy which actually worked.it all calmed down in the end so hang on in there and you could contact la leche league(0845 120 2918)or nct breastfeeding helpline(0870 444 8708) who offer good advice.

yes, agree that the homeopathy worked - phytolacca tablets. They really did clear up my mastitis 2nd time around.

Sorry this is prob a bit late to be much help but maybe she was worried it might be an abscess? Which might not respond to the antibiotics while the rest of the mastitis would. anyhow hope you're feeling better. I had it too and it was horrible.
