I think to start the new thread off we should reintroduce ourselves and our babies for the sake of our own memories and also for any newbies who may join Smile

I have a 10 week old DS who is EBF. Has been sleeping through the night for the last week and I'm just waiting patiently for things to go downhill as I'm sure they will Smile

Sounds like some good nights were had!!!

Welcome scater - congratulations on your twins!! Smile

DS had his worst night for quite a while which coincidentally (?) coincided with DH spending the whole night with us instead of going into the spare room!

I put him down at 9pm and it took him an hour to go off Hmm Then he was up again at 03.45, had a quick feed but took another 40 minutes to go back to sleep. So it was 04.45am before I could try and get some sleep but because daylight had appeared outside I found it so difficult and must have lay there for an hour. Then 45 minutes after I fell asleep he's awake again because his nappy has leaked. So then I have to do a body wash and full of change of clothes for him and then his bed sheets then he wanted another feed so it was gone 7.15am before I got back into bed. He then woke up another 1.5 hours later! Grr! So I am very, very tired.

My DH has taken him out for a few hours now so I can have some leisurely time of tea and toast, biscuits to dunk my tea in and a nice shower.

It is MIL's funeral tomorrow so things are a bit tense and stressful and we have a lot to finish organising today. I'm thinking DS may be picking up on the tension and upset.

Evening all. The most incredible thing has just happened here! I put a sleeping boy down in his cot and of course his eyes pinged open and up kicked his legs.
As he wasn't crying or fussing I decided to just put my hand on his chest and sit down on the floor, not making eye contact to see what he'd do.
His middle two fingers went into his mouth and over the course of about 10 minutes (bless him) he sucked and sucked and then his little lids started to droop, and off he drifted to sleep. I could cry with pride!

That's great MrsM, I really hope you have a peaceful night, you deserve it more than most.

DD has had her 16 week vaccinations this afternoon and has been grouchy ever since so we'll see if it affects her sleep. My parents are staying at the moment and my mum looked in DD's mouth and pointed out two little white patches on her lower gums, it looks like teeth might be on their way!

mrsmugoo · 03/07/2014 20:31

Thanks Frankel, I'm really hoping (touches wood, tries not to jinx things) that it's been an early 4 month regression and that he's come out the other side and has made the developmental leap he needed to learn to self soothe.

My next issue to crack with him is how hungry all the time he is and his refusal to take a bottle. I'm finding the constant breastfeeding so exhausting. He refused a NUK latex teat today

Anyway, I'm going to turn in now, although him self soothing has made me all excited and I'm not sure I can sleep haha!

midnight1983 · 03/07/2014 20:44

Wow mrsmugoo, amazing!

TwentiethCenturyGirl · 03/07/2014 21:08

Smile Smile Smile MrsM - brill news. DD is a thumb and finger sucker and it's been a godsend. Fingers crossed for good nights all round!

puggywug81 · 03/07/2014 21:48

Fab news mrsmugoo really pleased for you.

Good luck with the teething Frankel. Fin has started teething and now frantically sucks how fist bless him!

Hi scater.

Writerwannabe83 · 03/07/2014 22:01

Really happy for you mrsmugoo Smile

I'm about to lose my mind over here. DS hasn't slept at all today and is now SCREAMING and has been doing for 2.5 hours. I can't listen to it anymore.

mrsmugoo have you tried the Mam teats? They're the only ones my DS will take. He's been as good as gold all day but naturally has started to act up now! Have dosed him on Calpol and a half bottle of EBM in the hope that he'll sleep longer after his next feed but somehow I don't it...

Cariad007 · 03/07/2014 22:12

doubt it, not don't it.

Cannotbelieveit · 03/07/2014 22:17

That's great MrsM!!!

Ryder has been good all day tho didn't really nap after lunch! Then had a mini meltdown before his bath. He's been asleep for 45 mins already! So an earlier night than usual, let's see how long he sleeps for.

SW weigh in tomorrow morning so an early start for me regardless as I've got to get me and both boys out by just after 9 again. Fx I have a loss I've 110% stuck to it all week!! I've never eaten so much Shock

mrsmugoo · 03/07/2014 22:51

Awake for a feed - he lasted 3 hours. I wonder if we can repeat the self settling??

mrsmugoo · 04/07/2014 00:13

Phew! I popped him straight back in his cot after his feed and sat next to him on the floor for a full HOUR watching him first flail around then finally find his fingers and suck himself off to sleep. Bless his little heart. It was a struggle, but he got there in the end.

midnight1983 · 04/07/2014 02:57

Baby has been up 4 times and is now just awake...doesn't want feeding or changing and is just awake. Beyond frustrated.

mrsmugoo · 04/07/2014 03:08

Oh god midnight that is just the worst!

This one slept for 3 hours but it's 4 since he last fed. He's fed so I'm about to pop him back in and see if he can send himself back off to sleep again,

midnight1983 · 04/07/2014 03:15

Good luck mrsmugoo, I am still rocking my one. Feeling remorseful as I did tell him to just shut up and go to sleep. Not in a particularly harsh way but I did say it. Sorry baby midnight!

mrsmugoo · 04/07/2014 03:42

Half an hour onto sitting on the floor by the cot....

mrsmugoo · 04/07/2014 04:01

He's just dropped off! And this time he just did it by himself, no fingers. I'm so chuffed!

mrsmugoo · 04/07/2014 04:35

Actually nope! He woke up as soon as the light went off and was sick to boot!

Quick happy change, sick mopped up and muslin laid in the cot, boob again and back down. Out like a light.

Finally I'm back in my bed after nearly two hours.

johull · 04/07/2014 04:43

Mrs- well done! It's not luck that your LOVis self soothing it's all your hard work! Very impressed, hope for the same tonight

johull · 04/07/2014 04:45

Midnight- I feel your pain. I had the same a couple if nights ago.

Fortunately this is the first time my LO slept through her normal 1:30 and woke up at 3:30. She's now back to sleep at 4:44. That's pretty good going for her as she's still tiny :-) happy mummy- I might actually get into town today Grin

johull · 04/07/2014 04:46

Writer- you haven't posted since 2200 I'm hoping it's because you're sound asleep Grin

midnight1983 · 04/07/2014 04:52

Up again after an hours sleep. Fuck.

notadoctor · 04/07/2014 05:59

Congratulations Mrs M - that's fantastic! We're away at my in laws and ironically both baby and toddler have slept really well while I've barely been able to sleep at all! So frustrating!

Cannotbelieveit · 04/07/2014 06:35

9 hours!!!!! Grin
