I think to start the new thread off we should reintroduce ourselves and our babies for the sake of our own memories and also for any newbies who may join Smile

I have a 10 week old DS who is EBF. Has been sleeping through the night for the last week and I'm just waiting patiently for things to go downhill as I'm sure they will Smile

Up for the day! Beautiful morning outside...

Cannotbelieveit · 22/06/2014 06:27

A 3 hour stint, let's see if I can get a cheeky hour or so extra as DS1 is still fast asleep!

Johull I have a noisy in his sleep baby too!!! It Keeps me up but DH oblivious to it and carries on sleeping!

Writerwannabe83 · 22/06/2014 08:19

The thing that fascinates me about this thread is realising how the same baby can be so different from one night to the next- they are just so unpredictable!!

puggy - I think you can be forgiven for stamping on his balls! Why are so men so clueless?!

DH had another 3.5 stretch after his 4am feed and has just finished feeding again. I have put him back in his Crib where he is happily gurgling and chortling and I'm hoping he will g back to sleep so I can grab a few more hours!!

Writer- I just said to my husband it's like having a builder in the corner if the bedroom. My beautiful delicate daughter is really letting rip recently. It's waking me up! Could be the warm weather? I really don't know. I hope it stops :-) xx

puggywug81 · 22/06/2014 09:54

Hi johull,

You might need to get used to the rippers I'm afraid,I was genuinely shocked by how loud Fin's trumps are!

FrankelandFilly · 22/06/2014 09:56

I think farting and burping like a 40 year old bloke is par for the course! DD is very unladylike Grin

KateTheShrew · 22/06/2014 10:01

Hi all. Finally we had a good night! 10.30-3.30, woke briefly at 5 but DH settled him within 5 mins and then up for the day at 7. I really, really needed that 5 hour stretch -- it's the first time I've had more than 2 hours in a row this week!

We're back home tomorrow having spent the week with my parents. DS has had so much attention that her won't know what to do when it's just the three of us at home. Hope it doesn't unsettle him too much.

writer, hope your DS's chin is OK, it sounds so painful Sad

KateTheShrew · 22/06/2014 10:05

On the subject of baby-farts, DS had just let rip a super-loud one while feeding and then giggled hid little head off. Obviously inherited his daddy's sense of humour Grin

PollyP0429 · 22/06/2014 10:09

Morning all, DH has been up with LO since 7, leaving me to lay in (bar waking me up for feeds) until now. I'd forgotten how wonderful it is to wake up naturally.

Not a bad night considering the evening trouble, we were only up twice each

Cariad007 · 22/06/2014 16:21

DS had a pretty good night and DP took him at around 7ish this morning to give me a lie in. We went out for lunch and he had a couple of short sleeps but home now and trying to get him down for another nap but he's not having any of it! He needs his long afternoon sleep though, in order to sleep better at night.

Writerwannabe83 · 22/06/2014 17:03

DS is having a super sleepy day today!! He fell asleep again at 8.30am for another 2 hours, waking up at 10.30am. My DH took him out for a few hours to visit his dad (his dad lives on our street) and I fed him when he got back at 12.30pm and he's been asleep since Shock

In the last 9 hours I've only seen DS awake for 2 of them Smile

It was nice having some time to myself this morning though to watch my Eastenders Omnibus with a cup of tea and some chocolate biscuits!!

Two bits of good news:

Firstly, DS seems to love his Crib!! His bumpers have got printed animals on them and he is fascinated! I think he enjoys having room to stretch out too!

Secondly, his spot looks so, so much better. It is still red and looks tender but it is definitely drying up nicely. I'm thinking it will be gone by tomorrow Smile

Glad things are looking up writer

DH's day off today so I basically got the evening off! Just gonna polish off some leftovers for dinner and climb into bed methinks :)

Writerwannabe83 · 22/06/2014 21:30

That sounds like a lovely plan polly

My DH has gone to the pub with his brother and dad so I'm left dealing with a baby who refuses to sleep.

Why is it they can appear to be shattered, practically falling asleep on the play mat but the minute you take them upstairs to bed they go mental?!

It has been 1.5 hours now since his bedtime feed and he's still refusing to sleep. We've had lots of screaming, crying and grizzling only being sorted with e rocking and singing to him. I dread to think how many times I've sung "If you're happy and you know it" in the last hour. He's now in his Crib but has only stayed quiet because I keep humming his favourite lullaby to him.

This all started when he fell asleep on me during his feed and I had to deal with trying to wind a sleeping baby. It obviously failed, he was pissed off at being woken up and decided to make me pay for it.

Bedtimes used to be so enjoyable and easy but things have gone crazy over the last week and bedtimes are just a battle now. I just don't understand it - maybe mrsmugoo was right and I had taken for granted how well he was being and that his behaviours now are much more 'normal' for a 3 month old than the 'quick to self settle and sleep through' baby I used to have...

puggywug81 · 22/06/2014 21:46

Glad the Spot is clearing up.

Sounds like a relaxing night Polly.

We've had a busy day it was Pugsley the dog's 4th birthday so we went to windermere for the day and stopped off at Blackpool on the way back,I sat on the beach and Fed Fin while oh and pugsley ran around,it was lovely.

Cannotbelieveit · 22/06/2014 22:05

Tonight Ryder is being what can only be described as annoying!! Is this colic? Unsettled in the evenings and a bugger to feed until he gets sleepy? Still trying to do the last feed and put him down to sleep! We have our joint 7 week check at the GP tomorrow and it'll be an early start for me as it is! Without a crappy night in the mix! When is colic meant to settle/end? Confused

Writerwannabe83 · 22/06/2014 22:08

That sounds lovely puggy - do you mean you were celebrating the dog's birthday?? Grin

My evening is still hellish - it's times like these that I like to close my eyes and daydream about how different life could be if I fed with bottles...

OP posts:
TwentiethCenturyGirl · 22/06/2014 22:53

I think that I read that colicy type crying usually reaches its peak at around 8 weeks cannot, so hopefully the end is in sight!

Sounds like a lovely day puggy. People knock Blackpool but on a gorgeous day like today the beach is nice. We had a fab day there with the eldest last year Smile

Hope things have settled writer. You said DS had a lot of sleep late on this afternoon. If he's hard to settle, it might be worth trying to stop him napping late on in the day. I never liked DD1 sleeping after 4:30 because it sent her bedtime haywire.

Our last few nights have been ok

  • down at 7pm and only feeding when I wake her before going to bed myself. However she has been waking super early for the day (4:45am this morning - yawn) and not going back to sleep until 8ish. It's killing me... DH sent me back to bed on Sat and offered to get up when the eldest woke at 6am this morning but I was already wide awake and once I'm up, I'm up.

I'd rather be up for a quick feed in the night and get an extra hour or so kip in the morning than have any more early starts..

mrsmugoo · 22/06/2014 23:07

Here we go again. Down at 8, up by 10:40

Really hope it's not another night of two hourly feeds. I struggle to go back to sleep when I have to wake up in just over an hour each time.

puggywug81 · 22/06/2014 23:36

Evening everyone.

Yes we were celebrating the dog's 4th birthday, she is my fur baby!
Twentieth I love Blackpool, so much fun and mostly dog friendly.

Writer glad the Spot is clearing, hope you have a peaceful night.

Cannot I hope the colic ends soon.

Finger crossed you get a good stretch of sleep mrsmugoo.

Good luck and sleepy vibes to everyone else. Thanks

mrsmugoo · 23/06/2014 01:23

Up again. But I didn't get back to sleep til 1 so only managed an hour 20 of sleep :(

Is this the start of 4 month sleep regression? I only had 2 weeks of good sleep for god sake - no fair!!

mrsmugoo · 23/06/2014 01:23

Til 12 that should say

Cannotbelieveit · 23/06/2014 03:59

I hope the colic ends soon! We escaped all this with DS1 who was a dream baby so it's hard not to compare!

Just under 5.5 hours so quite good considering the room has been 25deg all night even with our window open all night.

Hope most of you got on well last night. Grin

mrsmugoo · 23/06/2014 04:29

On 4th feed of the night. Had practically no sleep :(

Writerwannabe83 · 23/06/2014 05:22

Morning all - mrsmugoo - you must be exhausted Sad Are you able to sleep in the day whilst naps are going on? Not that I ever could, I really struggled to ever sleep in the day no matter how shattered I was!

cannot - glad you had a good night. We haven't got a room thermometer (we used to but I accidentally broke it) but I'm thinking of getting one as I'd be interested to see how warm our room gets because it feels stifling. I'm thinking of buying a fan but not sure if the humming noise would annoy me.

DS went just over 6.5 hours so a big improvement on the last few nights. His spot looks really bad again this morning. The area surrounding it is all red again and the spot has gone greeny/yellowy with pus. Definitely taking him to the GP today. He's just feeding now and then it's back to the Crib he shall go. I feel quite refreshed so I think I will actually get up when he goes back to sleep Smile

Oh no mrsmugoo, those nights are so, so hard. Hope you get a nap in.

We had a good night, down at 8.30, feeds at 10 and 11. Slept 12-4.30 which is great, but I cannot persuade him to sleep back in the cot. He seems to believe that after 5am he should be up or sleeping in my arms. Shock
