I think to start the new thread off we should reintroduce ourselves and our babies for the sake of our own memories and also for any newbies who may join Smile

I have a 10 week old DS who is EBF. Has been sleeping through the night for the last week and I'm just waiting patiently for things to go downhill as I'm sure they will Smile

An hour and a half later and he's still asleep....

Almost 3.5 hours since his last feed which isn't like him in the day. I think I'll check his temperature when he wakes up.

How was DS inn the end writer? That sounds like a day from heaven to me, DD has never slept well during the day, even on me and DH she'd sleep but wake up every 10 to 20 mins. Saying that it's horrible when they suddenly change behaviour, you never know if they're ill or what so you still have my sympathy and hope that he's ok.

DD had a 40 minute feed before bed today! Haven't had a feed like that since she was 2 months old so I'm expecting a growth spurt and a half. Reckon this means a good night sleep?

Writerwannabe83 · 19/06/2014 20:02

Well I woke him at 4.30pm in order to feed him/check he was still alive and he was full of lots of smiles so I knew he was fine Smile He had a feed but then fell asleep again for just over another hour Shock

He's been up and playing since 6.00pm and seems very bubbly and happy. He is currently giggling and cooing away on his play mat!! Smile

We had an absolute Poo-Nami today - it was horrendous!!!
I think that's why he has slept so much, it was taking all his energy to 'brew it' this morning and then after he'd made his deposit he was so worn out from all the effort he had to have more sleep Grin

Yes I would do anything for a day like that where I could actually have some me time or take a nap. I have a catnapping monster who requires full on entertainment and stimulation alllllll day from before 6am. Humph. I did manage to transfer him to his bouncer for one sleep today and one was in the pushchair so only two "on me" sleeps today.

Anyway - he's now fast asleep and was put down drowsy and settled with a hand on his tummy, so chuffed about that. I'm turning in too as DH is working and there's nothing except bloody football on TV. Night all x

Cariad007 · 19/06/2014 20:35

DS had a nice long nap from 4-6ish and then was taken for a walk by DP while I went to the gym. He's now being bathed and hopefully will feed to sleep in an hour or so. I'm hoping for a better night tonight but that's what I hope for last night too, to no avail!

Writerwannabe83 · 19/06/2014 21:04

I've just finished his bedtime feed and put him down in his MB. He is grizzling and protesting! He's probably wide awake after all his sleep today!!

Cariad007 · 19/06/2014 21:12

First attempt at feed to sleep failed. This may be a sign of the night to come but I really need more than an hour tonight :(

Writerwannabe83 · 19/06/2014 21:14

I really, really hope you have a better night cariad Thanks

DS is still fidgeting in his MB but at least the grizzling has stopped...

He's still awake....

And has just blessed me with his second giant poo of the day....

PollyP0429 · 19/06/2014 22:30

Well it started well... DD was woken up by a noise of aome description from the living rom though DH swears he didn't do anything and is now struggling to get back to sleep, she refused a feed just kept playing with nipple so DH is trying to get her back to sleep. If she's not asleep in half an hour I'm gonna try feeding her again, its been long enough even with an epic feed-a-thon

Writerwannabe83 · 19/06/2014 22:41

My DH is always swearing he hasn't made a noise either when baby suddenly wakes up in his care Hmm

I don't blame you for attempting another feed....we may as well use milk on tap to our advantage when trying to make a baby sleep Grin

Mine fell asleep about 30 minutes ago. I'm predicting a 4am wake up.

Cannotbelieveit · 19/06/2014 22:57

Ryder dell asleep on me after a 40 min feed for the whole England match and then on transfer to the cot woke up, fed for 5 mins then got annoyed I think because he wanted to use me as a dummy but the by product was milk he didn't want.

So as I had nothing to lose I put him in his cot with his dummy (avent soothie is the only one he will take) and he's dropped off. I've removed the dummy as he spat it out. Let's hope he goes a nice stretch tonight. Hope everyone else gets a decent night too Grin

Cannotbelieveit · 19/06/2014 23:36

I'm wide awake! So annoying Confused

IdaClair · 19/06/2014 23:46

I saw this thread and thought, that's me, I'm always up with dd when I should be sleeping, but having read through, you all have tiny babies, and I don't, so now I'm feeling like I'm doing something wrong.

Is there a thread like this for toddlers?

Cannotbelieveit · 20/06/2014 02:44

3.5hours from ds2 but ds1 also playing about and getting up constantly?!! Aaaargh!

Ida don't think it matters what age your little one is, so welcome! Grin

Writerwannabe83 · 20/06/2014 02:46

Ida - you should start one Grin

DS woke up at 02.30am and I am speechless. I cannot remember the last time he woke up in the middle of the night for a feed!!!

I knew things were too good to last....

Cannotbelieveit · 20/06/2014 03:40

Ds1 and 2 both still up since just after 2, I'm going out of my mind Confused

Ds2 has been changed twice and had both boobs! Today will be vile I just know it. Usually my parents come round on a Friday and help but they are coming Saturday instead as DH is moving MiL house for her. Oh well

midnight1983 · 20/06/2014 04:50

He did it! 7.5 hours again Smile which means tonight will be shit again...

BirdsDoIt · 20/06/2014 05:02

Hello can I join you sleepless ladies? DS is 9 weeks old today and keeping me busy - like mrsmugoo's DS he only ever catnaps during the day (20 mins or so) and that has to be on someone. He had tongue tie procedure 10 days ago so we're pretty new to the breastfeeding side of things - previously I've mainly been giving him expressed breast milk in a bottle. Post tt op we had to wake him (torture!) every 3 hours to feed and I think he's just getting used to the idea that now he can go longer than that between feeds again.

Generally he seems to go for gradually decreasing lengths of sleep during the night - first sleep will be 3 hours if we're lucky, second sleep 2 hours, third sleep (if it happens) maybe 1 hour...do other people have the same thing?

BirdsDoIt · 20/06/2014 05:03

7.5 hours, amazing!!

mrsmugoo · 20/06/2014 05:31

Hi birds, yes always he same with decreasing lengths of sleeps. Mine is currently doing along the lines of 4.5, 3, 2. He woke up at 5:10 and I'm currently trying my best to settle him back off - that's just too early for me to get up!

midnight1983 · 20/06/2014 06:12

Hi birds, yes my baby normally sleeps with that type of pattern also, and occasionally gifts me with an all nighter. Honestly, even at 16 weeks he sometimes does hourly wake ups. It's still very random.

Writerwannabe83 · 20/06/2014 07:55

Welcome birdsdoit - my DS also has decreasing lengths of sleep. It seems to be a common theme!!

After his very random 02.30am feed DS slept for another 4.5 hours and is feeding again now. I hope he goes back to sleep again after this feed, he usually does, because I find it a nightmare getting myself up dressed and ready and getting breakfast whilst he wants my attentions Smile

OP posts:
Cannotbelieveit · 20/06/2014 07:55

Yes birds we get the decreasing sleep stints!! Ds2 (7 weeks tomorrow) sometimes will sleep 7-8 hours and other times 2/3/4 hours!! Ds1 is teething (he's 14 months) and is stirring lots in the night too whereas he normally sleeps 12 hours straight

KateTheShrew · 20/06/2014 08:35

Morning all! Hi birds, welcome Smile

I think decreasing sleep stints are the norm, sadly. I remember reading somewhere that they have their deepest sleep at the beginning of the night and have lighter sleep close to morning. My DS certainly does this.

We had a horrendous night that I never want to repeat. Put him down at 9.30 and went to sleep myself as I was shattered. Woke up to the sound of DS wailing an hour later. Fed him as usual and when he dropped off put him back in his bed where he promptly started wailing again. Ended up repeating this for an hour with DS falling asleep on me but waking screaming when I put him down. Finally my poor mum came in to help, by which time he was in complete meltdown. Poor little chap was so upset Sad Just when we are thinking he must be ill he calmed down very suddenly and wanted to play!!!! We didn't get him back to sleep until nearly 1 am. So that was an hour and a half of absolutely heartbroken screaming and an hour of wanting to get up and play. I have no idea what got into him Hmm

Anyway he finally exhausted himself enough that he slept till nearly 5, had a quick feed and went straight back to sleep until 7, which was a relief. I have never heard screaming like that from him, it really scared me. But it stopped so suddenly and this morning he seems totally fine!?!
