I think to start the new thread off we should reintroduce ourselves and our babies for the sake of our own memories and also for any newbies who may join Smile

I have a 10 week old DS who is EBF. Has been sleeping through the night for the last week and I'm just waiting patiently for things to go downhill as I'm sure they will Smile

He is 12 weeks bless him. I gave him his Calpol 45 minutes ago but he's still wide awake. I really can't face an awful night after today, I just don't think I have the mental strength to deal with it Sad

Writer really sorry to hear your news I hope you have peaceful night.

DS had an expressed bottle then bath then boob and is drifting off now.

Really hoping for a good night as we have hospital appt's for him tomorrow, he's got a kidney scan and a cystogram so we will be there ages! Meeting a friend and my parents beforehand and DS1 will stay with them whilst we take DS2 to his appt. dreading it already! Shock

puggywug81 · 17/06/2014 22:19

Writer so sorry to hear your news Thanks

Cannot good luck for tomorrow sounds stressful *Thanks

Cariad007 · 17/06/2014 22:38

Good luck cannot

DS has his third round of jabs tomorrow so needs to sleep tonight. He'd just drifted off when DP (who NEVER clears the bed before lying down in it) kicked something off the bed, it clattered to the floor and DS is now wide awake. Grr, I could happily slap DP over the head!

mrsmugoo · 18/06/2014 03:29

Oh Writer, I'm so sorry to hear about your MIL :(

DS slept 7:20 - 11:40 then 12 - 3:20

Just feeding now and hoping he sleeps til a decent hour - he's been waking for the day before 6am which is my price for early nights and longish stretches!

Cannotbelieveit · 18/06/2014 03:47

He managed just over 5 hours, he's just fed, hoping he goes back down for a few hours, tho my alarm is set for 6am anyhow! DH is not a morning person so I've got to get both boys fed and ready and me also! BrewBrew

Cariad007 · 18/06/2014 04:26

He dropped off around midnight and has when 4 times since. Fuck this sleep regression - why didn't anyone tell me about it before I got pregnant? I honestly just feel like walking out, it's that bad.

Writerwannabe83 · 18/06/2014 05:11

DS finally fell asleep at 10pm but then went 6.5 hours. I've just finished feeding him and I'm hoping he will go off quickly. Yesterday he was a little sod after his morning feed, really grizzly and so I bought him into bed with me - I'm trying not to get in the habit of doing that though. If he's still awake and playing around in his MB though in another 30 minutes I may reconsider Smile

He went 9 hours without a feed - if only he and I could fall straight asleep after his last feed!! I'd love a 9 hour stretch Grin

cannot - your DH isn't a morning person so despite you being up during the night for feeding it's still you who has to get up in the morning and get the boys ready? Shock LTB!!! Grin

cariad - I really feel for you. There's nothing worse than sleep derivation and frustration when a baby just won't sleep!! In know nothing I say can practically help but you really do have my sympathies. I'm dreading the sleep regression phase.....I have a feeling my DH will be spending a lot of time in the spare room!!

OP posts:
mrsmugoo · 18/06/2014 06:23

He's just done 3:40-6ish. I'm attempting to treat this like a night feed and put him back down as he didn't seem wide awake like he usually is.

KateTheShrew · 18/06/2014 08:47

So sorry to hear about your MIL writer. Very sad news.

Re: teething, DS had been chewing and dribbling constantly since about 12 weeks, but finally, on Saturday (the day before he turned 5 months) we noticed that a little tooth had appeared!! And it is very sharp Sad Fortunately he's only bitten a couple of times. So it could be teething but like Frank says it could be a while before you see any teeth.

In other news, he's also learned to roll and he's doing it constantly. Even when I put him down asleep! This is making for slightly fraught nights and a tired mummy.

OwlinaTree · 18/06/2014 08:48

writer I'm sorry to hear the news about your MIL.

cannot good luck for today, hope it goes well.

Boy wouldn't go to sleep yesterday. I think he's hit a new era somehow, we don't seem to be able to just put him down when asleep now, so there was lots of shushing and stroking last night to help him go off.

Writerwannabe83 · 18/06/2014 09:03

Thanks everyone for your well wishes about my MIL Thanks

DS only played around in his MB for about 10 minutes after his earlier feed so was back asleep by 5.30.am. He then slept for another 3 hours.

Today is 'poo day' (he has a regular flatter now) and when it's Poo Day he is a nightmare to feed because he's always trying to push at one end at the same time that he's trying to suck on the breast which is impossible. It usually end up with him sticking most of his feed up with all the pushing and me having to feed every 2 hours to fill m back up again. Grr.

Cannotbelieveit · 18/06/2014 09:36

Writer I know it's not ideal but I made him get up for ds1 and give him breakfast and he did! He's a really good dad I shouldn't moan it's just on a morning like this when he's off to take us to hospital I could do with his help!!

KateTheShrew · 18/06/2014 10:06

We just had poo day! It was enormous and truly, truly hideous.

Cariad007 · 18/06/2014 11:11

DP took DS this morning and he slept on his shoulder for a few hours so I could get some rest. And naturally I then found it hard to get to sleep! But when he brought DS back in for his 7am feed we both managed to drop off and sleep til about 1030am. It's so relentless though and I'm sure it'll be worse tonight after the jabs.

Cariad007 · 18/06/2014 11:14

Moan away cannot - if DP refused to get up for DS because he's "not a morning person" then I would have a lot to say! Glad he woke up for them today though.

Writerwannabe83 · 18/06/2014 21:17

Bedtime feed is taking place and DS seems to be in a very bad, grouchy mood. I can't say I feel optimistic about the next few hours ahead... Sad

OP posts:
Cariad007 · 18/06/2014 21:32

Me neither. DS had his jabs and then only managed a one hour nap instead of the usual three but got another 90mins or so from 6pm. Just fed him to sleep and put him in the crib and of course he woke up crying! Feeding him lying down now and will try again in a bit as I can't face 3 wake ups in 4 hours again. I had a breakdown this morning as it got too much.

Writerwannabe83 · 18/06/2014 22:01

Oh cariad - I remember the breakdowns Sad There really does come a point sometimes where we think we just cannot take it anymore!! It's horrible.

DS fell asleep whilst still feeding which is a nightmare in my eyes as I know he always wakes on the transfer and starts screaming. However, when I put him in his MB he stirred but didn't wake and just when I thought I may have got away with it I saw that DH hadn't put DS's bedtime socks on meaning he had bare legs and feet. I tried to gently put the socks on but it obviously woke DS who is still screaming. don't worry DH, you enjoy your football and leave the screaming to me...

I honestly don't know how I fell into the trap of bedtimes, which have been deteriorating over the last few weeks, seeming to be solely my responsibility?!

OP posts:
Cannotbelieveit · 18/06/2014 23:36

Meltdown from me and DS this evening!! Still not put DS down to sleep! I want to scream with exhaustion! DH suggestion?? Exclusively express so I know how much milk he's getting!! Cos obviously that's where I'm going wrong, his sleep would be perfect if we could measure his feeds!

I think because ds1 was a dream baby, this time round is proving more frustrating but just trying to think "this too shall pass", and that one day we will all sleep again!!

When these boys are lazy teenagers I swear I'm getting revenge in the mornings and waking them early!!

Cannotbelieveit · 19/06/2014 05:46

Well DS managed 5.5 hours but is probably up for the day after this feed.

The days are fine, no meltdowns and feeds like a dream and naps, but I'm beginning to dread the evenings/nights Shock

Writerwannabe83 · 19/06/2014 05:59

DS fell asleep at 22.15pm and has just woken up so has gone just under 8 hours!! I think that now he's not being carted around the hospital everyday and his routine is back to normal it's why he's being so much better at night again.

He's feeding now and he typically goes straight back to sleep after his breakfast feed.

cannot - what an interesting suggestion from DH.....Hmm

OP posts:
midnight1983 · 19/06/2014 06:00

Whyyyyyyyyyyy? Why does he have 1 amazing night followed by 2 of the worst? Waking every hour since 1 and literally seeing double as I type. I'm beyond frustrated especially as I know he can sleep all night.

Writerwannabe83 · 19/06/2014 06:07

That sounds awful midnight - is this good night/bad night a typical pattern for him or something that has just started? Is he too warm at night? I always found this to be a cause of regular waking from DS. All he sleeps in now is a long sleeved vest (so has bare legs) and a pair of normal socks. He doesn't even have blankets anymore either.
