Someone please, I'm a first time mum breastfeeding and my 2 weeks old baby seems to be constipated. I rang my local midwife's office was advised giving her boiled cooled down water, rub her tummy clockwise or giving her a bath could help. Has anyone tried any of these and other tips please will be appreciated.

Thank you xx

First off - what makes you think she is constipated?
BF babies can go many days (up to a week) without a dirty nappy and it's perfectly normal.
Is she straining and grunting? Because that too is perfectly normal.

I only ask this as it is very rare that breast fed babies get constipated as there is a natural laxative in breast milk.

I am very shocked you have been told to give water!!
Breast milk is over 70% water so additional water is not needed.

It's unusual for a baby of this young age to go many days without a poo and highly unlikely that constipation is the reason in a bf baby. More details, OP? Ta!
