Comfort Milk...which is best? HELP!

What are your experiences with comfort milk? We've tried aptamil comfort but DD got very bunged up and uncomfortable. Thinking of changing to another brand but not sure which. Is cow and gate the same as aptamil (keep hearing things along these lines?). What about SMA stay down?

I should add that she is taking omeprazole for reflux after trying ranitidine and gaviscon. Also tried dairy free diet to rule out cow's milk intollerance. DD is almost 8 months old.

Any thought and recommendations very much welcomed! Feels like we're fighting a losing battle here!

AFAIK Aptamil and Cow and Gate are not the same.

My boss' wife has a Doctorate and works in the pharmaceutical industry. She told me Aptamil was the most like breast milk so I used that.

DD2 used Comfort formula but was happy on Aptamil. Have you tried getting the GP to prescribe formula?

did your GP/paed prescribe a hypoallergenic formula for you to use when ruling out cmpi?

in general formula is all basically the same. aptamil is NOT any closer to breastmilk than any other brand, but it's a well-spun tale

aptamil and cow and gate are both made by the same company and are, as far as I can tell, identical products.

it's kind of trial and error I think. maybe try some of the ready made cartons and see how you go?

Aptamil market their products very heavily to hcps and this is why - a credible recommendation like this is worth so much to promote their brand.

Sorry for the derail. OP, you might find this useful - it is a summary of the differences between different milks: www.leicspart.nhs.uk/Library/INFANTMILKSCOMMONLYAVAILABLEINTHEUK.docx

According to the document, the different anti-reflux milks are thickened with different agents so it may be that one type agrees with your DD more. I don't think that comfort milk will necessarily help reflux - it's partially hydrolysed to be more easily digested but I don't think it's much thicker.
