Baby biting when latching on!

My 9 month old DD has 4 teeth, two at the bottom, two at the top, overnight she has been biting down when latching on and it hurts and makes me flinch! Any tips on ways to help her not do this???? Thank you!

Ouch!!

if she bites, try not to flinch or cry out (sometimes they do it for the amusing reaction they get from mum!) and immediately unlatch her. Tell her firmly "no biting" and shut up shop for a few minutes.

Then try again, and try to gauge just before she bites, and say "no biting" again and praise her if she doesn't bite.

It will take one or two goes, but she will stop biting if she knows it means no milk

good luck Smile
