Menstruation and breastfeeding question

Quick boring, question. My fully breastfed dd is 25 weeks and this morning I discovered that I am bleeding. I assume this is a period but was a bit shocked because I haven't had one since she was born. Is this normal or should I be worried? I started her on solids a few weeks ago but so far haven't downsized my feeding.

have to say I got my periods back after 6 weeks with DS1 and 5 months with DS2, both BF many many times a day. Just be VERY careful about contraception now (unless of course you are ttc).
I was hoping for a period free year too, so commiserations

Thanks Suzy. We really must meet up one day soon...I was sorry not to have been able to make that meet up. Where in London do you live?

N6
yes we should, I can't do the 26th (there's a thread about it) but we should.

Is that Highgate or Crouch End? Either way we're very near as I live in Higbury. I will check out the meet up thread

Normal. Starting solids is exactly when it happens: even if you think you haven't downsized the feeding, your body probably notices the difference.

PS I'm in Islington, can I come too?

started mine again at 9 months with both dds, slightly later with dd2 - so that was a whole year and a half without periods! yipeeee

Mine started last month - dd 7 and a half months. Had forgotten how much I loathe periods. And typically, it conincided with my long-awaited gynaecological appointment. Still I suppose the consultants have seen it all.

my 1st one wasn't too bad, but just started 2nd one, shockingly heavy
