Breast feeding and Vitamin D supplements.

I have just been on the BFN website regarding some medication I take and I saw a link to some information on BF'ing and Vitamin D.

It said that all babies from 4 weeks of age should be on a supplement and that even if the mother is taking Vit D supplements it won't be enough to address or have any effect on a baby's Vit D levels.

Do any of you give your breast fed baby Vit D supplements? I don't and have never been told to either.

I was given some by hv at first home visit-I think it has something to do with the demographic of the area you live in. It is added to formula I think and DS is mix fed so I'm not too upset when I inevitably forgetBlush -they're not very nice and have that really synthetic banana flavour.l

The supplement is recommended in some areas if mum didn't take vitamin d anten natally. It'snot a national thing yet.
Whereas vit d for preg and b women is recommended as standard ATM.
