How do I stop breastfeeding ?

I should really already know this, my DD stopped at 13 months and it was really easy. DS however is proving to be less easy...

When he was 10 months I had to introduce mixed feeding as my DD was in hospital and I needed to be with her. He took the bottle and formula no trouble and I fed him at night time. But since this he's had bad teething episodes and been ill, and the BF have crept back in. I'd say I'm feeding him at least 5 times a day often more, in the night I think he's waking for comfort (we're co sleeping).

Now he's 13 months he's having cows milk in the day and plenty of solids, but using BF to get to sleep. I suppose I've created plenty of 'bad habits' but it suited until now.

I'm ready to stop. My boobs are sore! I need advice please

i suggest u try dropping 1 feed a day so if u say he feeds abt 5 times a day it will take abt 6 days 2 wean him off the breast milk.u could also use the"never offer, never refuse".let me know how u get on.

You could try something like Jay Gordon's night weaning plan to drop the night feeds first and help get rid of the "must have boob to sleep/every time I wake up" association - I think getting more sleep will probably make everything else easier!

Daytime is probably more a matter of distraction/finding something else interesting to do. DS1 dropped his daytime feeds gradually pretty much by himself, but it seemed to happen when he was more interested in playing/going out than feeding. You might end up spending a lot of time outside....
