BF bras for big boobs

I'm normally a 38E. Currently 34 weeks,haven't really gone up in size. When should i get nursing bras? how do i measure myself? Does anyone have any recommendations on where to get them/what type?

Have you got a Bravissimo near you? I got a couple before I had DD but waited until after I'd had her - six weeks or so - and ordered about 30 different bras from Figleaves, varying sizes and brands, and tried on at home. Much easier than heaving me and my huge leaky boobs out to a shop where they probably didn't have much anyway! I found Freya best. Bit bullet boob shaped but better than the mono boob shape most bras gave me.

Wouldn't recommend spending much/any money on nursing bras before baby actually arrives and your size has settled down a bit - I was supposedly "measured" for a nursing bra when pg with DS1 and their estimated postpartum size for me was completely wrong (I think they usually go with "down a back size, up a cup size" and eventually I went down three back sizes and up two cup sizes). I just wore one of the Mothercare stretchy crossover sleep bras for the first month or so - they're actually quite supportive - and got measured then once I'd stopped feeling like I was changing size every five seconds. Bravado also do a sort of stretchy nursing bra that can accomodate changing sizes, though they're more expensive.

I've just bought the Emma-Jane underwired from Jojo Maman Bebe. It's brilliant!

As pp have said, I'd get a couple of cheap ones for immediately after the birth, then invest in some decent underwired ones when you've established feeding and your size has settled down a bit.

I love my Anita nursing bras - they're not the most beautiful of the Anita range, but they're so, so comfortable!

A bravado crop top is great for sleeping in and for the first few days when your milk comes in.

I'd recommend you go to bravissimo at about 37 weeks. Buy one nursing bra (you could wear the bravado one when this one is in the wash). It'll be bigger to account for your milk. Then see how you get on. I went back about 5 weeks after birth for some more.

By 4 months I'd converted some normal wired bras into drop cup bras using a kit from eBay.
