Does anyone know how often a 4 month old breastfeed baby should feed over 24 hour period?

Is 5 times ok (3 in day, twice at night)?

And is it ok them to regularly go 5+ hours without a feed in the day?

This is because they refuse to feed more often btw, not because I'm limiting feeds.

Weight is ok, he was on 50th centile at 2 months, but now dropped half a centile to between 25th and 50th - but HV says this is ok.

I'm posing because I'm worried about his lack of interest in feeding and general fussiness.

This has been going on for a couple of months now, I've posted about it before under another user name, but he's getting worse.

Today he woke up at 8am and has had one feed so far at 10.30am.

Is he content,nappies ok etc?
Might he have just become more efficient?

That sounds a bit low to me, but DS was a 2-hourly feeder (only in the daytime thank god) until after 6 months. But if output is ok then he probably is. Any chance he's got sore gums from teething?

My daughter has days like this but then makes up for it every couple of weeks with a few intense days of feeds. It's all new to me as my DS was a very keen feeder!
