When should my periods start?

I have finished Breastfeeding now and I am wondering when I should expect my periods to restart?

Will it be heavy to start with of should it be normal?

I think it varies from person to person - mine started back both times while I was still breastfeeding. First period both times was quite heavy and I had really bad PMT, then it kind of settled back to normal after a couple of cycles.

Longest mine stayed away for was 4 months and the first period was really heavy. It can take several months for them to restart.

It's different for everyone. Mine came back when dd was 12.5 mo, still bf but only morning and bedtime. First one very light, but I had bad pmt for weeks before.

Thank you for your replies, it is something that I am not looking forward too!

Mine have come back already and my DS is only coming up to 4 months old now. I think it really varies!

And he's ebf (thought I should mention that)
