To dream feed or not to dream feed?

As the title really!

DS is 10 weeks old and I've finally got him falling asleep before 9pm. 8:30 tonight in fact! He's EBF and gaining weight in line with expectations. He will usually wake sometime around 2:00 and again around 5:00 and back to sleep again after a short feed.

With DD I did a dream feed from 7 weeks and she was sttn 10-11 hours by 9.5 weeks.

But "weaning" her off it was hard work and was still doing it until she was about 8 months.

I know all babies are different but is it worth introducing one for DS? What have everyone else's experience of dream feeds been?

If you get more sleep, why not?

Dream feeds were amazing for us,.changed that 2am to a 5sm one. Yes it can be a bit of a pain staying up.and doing it, but overall I think we all got a lot more sleep.

DS is 19 weeks and we've dream fed him for weeks-before 12 weeks which was when he stared to sttn. I'm only thinking of stopping now as I'm knackered and often want to go to bed before 10.30 when we normally do it!

Never bothered with DD she was going to bed lateish so I wasn't going to elevate het after a couple of hours. The timing of her first feed just got later and later naturally until she was going from 8pm-5am by 12 weeks.

Caused chaos for us. DD2 was sleeping 7 to 7 (12 weeks - so this was four weeks ago ) with one wake at 3am. We tried introducing a dream feed in the hope of pushing the 3am feed back and it started a period of her waking every two hours.

One baby it worked really well and I got extra sleep, one it didn't and he just learned to wake up at that time as well as all the other times! Pregnant again so not sure what I'll do this time! I think your DS's night time routine sounds great, so I probably wouldn't if I were you, but would keep an open mind and think about it again if things changed.

we started it at 6 months and it works for us still at 8 months.

I tend not to as a maternity nurse but will if parents want to. The babies that haven't had a dream feed have all slept 10-12 hours at night by 12 weeks. One slept 12 hours at nine weeks and 13 hours by 15 weeks, she was a super sleeper.
