sma staydown. Any tips for making it up??

Ds3 has just started on sma staydown. I've been making it up as it says on the tin but am having problems mixing it properly. It keeps blocking the teat. Does anyone have any tips on how to prevent it?

Don't make it with all hot water, add a little cold and mix in to a smooth paste then add the boiled water a little at a time stirring lots.

The tin says to make it with chilled water not hot!
How do you stir it??

I nicked a load of coffee stirrers from costa and stuck them through the steriliser! Or I used the wrong end of a spoon.
It's a bugger to get it to have no lumps, luckily we didn't need to use it for long.
