Extended breastfeeding selfie

As highlighted in recent news, extended breastfeeding is often seen as a taboo & weird. So I thought it would be interesting to see how many of us are actually out there, I've always suspected there are more of us doing it than the media would have us believe.

So riding on the back of they no make up selfie, wouldn't it be great to have extended breastfeeding selfies fill the social networks & show it is the norm. I myself am currently tandem feeding a DD 7 month old & a DS 2.11 month old, but have also breast fed my other 3 older children, the eldest DS until he was 4.5, he is now 25 & is very proud that I did so.

I'm going to post 2 pictures, one a selfie of me feeding my young DS & a current picture of my eldest with the caption 'breastfed for 4.5 years'.
Therefore whether you are currently an extended breastfeeder or have done so in the past, post a pic on Facebook, Twitter etc & pass a message on for others to do the same & let's break the taboo & see how many of us are out there.
You can then post on this thread 'done' with or without link

Sadly the only picture I have of me feeding DD2 is when she was one day old (and her hands in the wrong place).

Given she fed until well after she started school, I'm kind of sad about that.

Starballbunny I posted a current picture of my 25 year old with just the caption breast fed for 4.5 years or others have posted pics with themselves & their grown up child & how long they breastfed for

Would have loved to feed him longer than i did (he stopped at about 20m) but i had to stop to start medication :(

(I've posted on twitter too btw, its already on my fb)

I don't have any photos of me feeding ds, wish I had at least one, especially when I was tandem feeding him and dd! And I only have a single picture of me feeding dd, but from this time last year. I suspect she would get up and try to wrestle the camera from me if I tried now.

BertieBotts · 28/04/2014 19:54

I don't think I have any photos of DS feeding at 4 either.

And TBH if I did I don't think I would be brave enough to put one on facebook! Blush

It's a really nice idea though and I'd definitely do it if others were but I don't think I could be a trendsetter with something like this. Too emotional.

My nursing days are behind me.. I didn't take any photos past the little baby stage.

But it's natural term breastfeeding, not extended I have to say Grin good luck.

Thank you so much for your comments,
Kveta don't worry it does not have to be current, just post the pic with how long you fed for, some have posted pics from 20 years ago!
Bertiebotts I understand completely how you would feel a bit Blush you could always just post a pic of your child or you with your child saying how long you fed for, if you'd rather not that's ok , the fact that you took part in this thread saying you were an extended breastfeeder is great, I couldn't bring myself to post a no makeup selfie! Lol! Nobody nominated me anyway, maybe they were trying to tell me something! I nominated a friend & when she did it I donated.

TheMightyMing · 02/05/2014 23:00

Aah cute wondrous!!!

My little man lost interest at about 11.5 months and crawled off my lap never to feed again :(

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 03/05/2014 09:20

Aww :)

Mine both (2 and 3.6) still pretend to latch on now, even though neither of them "feed" anymore
