Anyone had experience of attending a LLL breast feeding cafe?
Following a breast abscess and now only feeding on one boob I was thinking of going to one tomorrow. Just wondering if any of you wise MNetters had any experience.

Yes they were very supportive and helped me a lot during the first very hard weeks.

Good. Think I'll head over to the meet up tomorrow. Unless I'm having abscess drainined again. Confused

I'm actually back in hospital waiting to speak to breast specialist about draining abscess under ultrasound again.
May have lost milk supply in L boob as apart from abscess part it's feeling softer Sad

You poor thing. Are you able to phone the lll leader later?

TallRedhead · 28/04/2014 15:31

Good idea. I may email her. Being admitted for iv antibiotics and 2nd drainage so I have requested a bed on post natal ward so I can continue feeding ds (9wks) just waiting now to see if that's possible.

Tall hope it all goes well.

I have found lll incredibly supportive. If you can call the national helpline or your local leader I imagine you will find them very helpful. Best of luck and hope you feel better soon.

All drained. Looking a much more normal boobie shape now Grin
But currently trying to get in a side room so ds isn't too noisy for other patients in the night or because of infection. Depends which nurse you chat to as to reason why!!
Ds has been so good and just fed/slept/fed all day.
It is sad how a few health care professionals do not understand why I want to stay with him and not leave him at home when I can only express one bottle at a time. But on the whole staff have understood and supported my requests. I do worry though that being strong pushy and a nurse myself helped and that others with less knowledge may just do as they are told.
