Breast feeding and expressing at same time

Hi, I am pregnant with my first baby and hoping to breast feed. I just wondered if you could express from one breast and breastfeed the baby from the other breast all at the same time, in order to save time and have a supply of milk just in case?

Yes you can once you get the hang of feeding and point one handed Smile

As spotty says you can but I rarely do as I prefer to have a hand free for mumsnetting I find it hard to press the buttons on the pump unless DH is there to do it for me.

I think it depends how well you respond to expressing. I've never taken more than 5 minutes or so on my pump to get enough so it isn't a big time drain. Others find pumps don't work well for them.
