How much to express for one feed?

My breastfed ds is 18 days old and now weighs just over 3kg (about 6 pounds 11oz I think). I would really like to express a feed for him once in a while, but about how much is the right amount at the moment, and how does it change as he gets bigger? My HV did tell me how to calculate it (something about multiplying a number by his weight then dividing by the number of feeds he has per day) but I didn't write it down and now can't remember what she said. Have no idea how much it should be.

at 3 weeks i think DS would take about 3 or 4oz of EBM. Id do more than you think you need because the guzzle it from a bottle!

I'd say 3-4 fl ozs (90-120ml) oz but you can collect small amounts and add them together for one feed. When he drains that add another oz (30ml)to the next one .

I'd start out with 4 oz, and see how it goes. As when I did this with mine, the bottle was drained in 1 min, then spent 40 min feeding anyway as it wasn't enough.

I never did pump enough to fully statisfy.......goodness knows how much they had.
