Baby fussing at bottle

MrsT00 · 08/04/2014 18:18

My 14 weeks baby have started to fuss and cry every time she is fed.

She normally has 5-6oz, but now she will drink the first 2-3oz then start to cry and arch her back. Even after burping her , she will still cry and refuse the bottle. Nearly every feeding is taking an hour or so..

I'm so fed up with family members telling me I'm force feeding her. Because I feed on demand , and I know something is wrong because baby is clearly hungry but cannot feed.

Saw the GP 3 days ago who reluctantly prescribe infant gaviscon and thinks she may have acid reflux. I'm waiting for an appointment with the health visitor this Thursday to discuss the issue with her.

Thing is, I been told the gaviscon may take a week or 2 weeks to work. She is meant to hav two satchels , 3 times a day mixed with her formula. But the pharmacist told me to try 1 satchel first. I notice lumps of the gaviscon at the bottom of her formula, so thinks she isn't even taking it all in.

Just wandering if any mums experienced this, I'm also worried that it isn't acid reflux but we wont even know til in 2 weeks time.

My dd did this, we tried everything.

Turned out she just needed the next size up teat!

Has she been checked for tongue tie?

MrsT00 · 08/04/2014 21:38

Don't think she has tongue tied. Her tongue looks fine to me and she only started this fussiness in the last 3 weeks.

Sounds like silent reflux. Gaviscon may help but she may need to be put on Ratinadine. Try two sachets instead of one and if no improvement after a week go back to the GP.
