I am bf my dd who is 5 weeks old. I breastfeed my first child for 15 months and with him had similar problems with tongue tie and thrush. And I recognise same problems this time.
Tongue tie noticed at birth and snipped at about a week old but not before I got blisters on my nipples. Breastfeeding got lot better, no longer painful during feeds and my nipples healed. It was awful in that first week and is massively better. However my dd still makes a clicking sound when feeding and the latch isn't perfect. She seems to slip off easily.
She is unable to flange her upper lip probably down to a lip tie which seems really bad as it goes to the bottom of her top gum.
Once I got tongue tie snipped and support with latch things went well then I started getting a burning pain after feeds. My nipples were pink. Was given daktarin gel for dd and flucanozole 100mg for ten days. I've also been taking pro biotics, grapefruit seed extract capsules and bathing my nipples with grapefruit seed extract liquid. I think things got about 50% better but last few days my nipples are burning after feeds again. Does this mean its not thrush or that it's treatment resistive. Could the pain in my nipples between feeds be anything else? I did wonder if it could be poor latch due to the lip tie but then wouldn't the feeds be painful? Or could it be vasospasm/ raynauds as my nipples do sometimes turn white.
Any help/advice much appreciated
