Anyone using the medela calma teat long term?

Hello wise MNers

DD has been using the medela calma bottles for about 7 months now. We were attempting to breastfeed and these were the only teats that didn't make her projectile vomit across the room. The medela calma teat creates a vacuum and the baby has to suck in order to get some milk.

I'm just wondering whether it's possible to move onto other brands of bottles or is it not worth the hassle? I'm worried the flow will be too fast but then she might not get used to a cup (and be throwing drinks all over herself as an adult Smile)

She is okay with a beaker (we have a Tommee Tippee free flow) - drinks a bit but often just spits out the water. I'm now wondering whether it's related to the bottle.

Any tips or views would be great. Thanks

I used the Calma with DD but she wasnt overly keen. You could try the Tommee Tippee C2N bottles with the size 1 teat to start with? This would be a slow flow still.

FWIW my 6.5mth old (ebf) does exactly the same with the TT free flow beaker - I think it's just a bit of a phase, as he gets used to it

We used Calma with DD and she did the same with sippy cups. It went away at 11 months.

Thanks so much for your responses.

That's really good to know, stargirl. I might try a TT C2N, think I still have some from the millions of bottles we bought at the start!
