At wits end-7 week old never satisfied!

Hi, I wonder if anyone has the same issue or can suggest anything to help. I'm bf my 7 week old but she has been a super hungry baby since day one. She was given formula top ups in hospital and we've carried on with that when I've literally been feeding all day and she's still chewing her hand/crying for feeding. Some days I can have her on the breast for nearly a whole morning or afternoon, she might drop to sleep or I distract her with playing or bath etc but it's so shortlived before she is hungry again. She's gaining weight but it's just heartbreaking that I can't seem to satisfy her and it's very very tiring! Any suggestions welcome.

Have you had your latch checked and the baby checked for tongue tie?

Yes and apparently both are fine. No tongue tie present and the latch is good. I wonder if I need to have them rechecked.Thank you TheScience.

I knew my baby had a tongue tie (I recognised the heart shaped tongue when he was born) and kept telling everyone but was told by 15-20 people (midwives, paediatricians etc.) that I was wrong. I privately tracked down a lactation consultant who specialised in TT and she saw it too immediately and cut it. I told this to a midwife friend and she told me they were not really trained to spot or deal with it anymore so perhaps get another opinion (and look at latch, increasing supply etc.)

That's really helpful, thank you lucy101. She's totally fine with a bottle (milk disappears v quickly) and seems to drain breasts ok. Although, it does seem like there's milk there, even if she sits there for hours.
I don't min bf a lot, it's just frustrating when I do for a long period of time and she's still hungry!
She's 98 centile in weight so she's definitely getting enough milk in general :-)
