I've got a 6 week old little boy who is breast fed. At the moment it seems to be every 2 hours (give or take). Is this a lot for a 6 week old? He is not keen on sleeping during the day and seems to want to suck all the time. Any advice welcome!

Thanks Lori

That seems pretty normal to me. Actually at 6 weeks I had no idea how many feeds DS had, but sometimes it did feel rather like he was attached all the time.

Just thought, there's a growth spurt at around 6 weeks so it could well be that. Keep up the good work, you've managed 6 weeks - the hardest part is over!

Sounds very similar to dd (now 18 weeks and it is only about every 4 hours)
Well done - keep it up

Ditto, except my ds had his growth spurt at 7 weeks and no-one had told me to expect it! Everyone always said, give bfing at least 6 weeks to get established- I still felt at a bit of a loose end at 10 weeks yet when I said out loud one day to a friend what a day usually consisted of, it actually sounded pretty good, I just hadn't realised. Still at it 12 months on, so keep at it, it's so worth it. And hopefully you'll know what I mean in a few weeks when it all makes sense. Good luck.

Thanks for all the support. Everything I read / hear seems to give conflicting advice. All you need sometimes is some words of encouragment!
