Hiya

I'm weaning DS from breast to bottle and have got it down to just the first morning feed which is fine. As he only seemed to be on the boob for 2 minutes lately, I thought he's not interested so I tried to give him a bottle instead. He only took 2 oz. I've just tried again after his lunchtime nap and he only took 1 oz. The next bottle will be just before bed where he'll take 7 oz. How on earth am I supposed to get him to drink a pint a day!!????

He's eating 3 meals now and putting on weight. Lots of wet and dirty nappies but I'm worrying he's not having enough milk. I do give him yoghurts etc to try and supplement it but is this ok?

Cheers

He seems quite young to be on so little milk but I kept bfeeding ds so couldn't say how much milk he took. I'm sure some some bottle feeding people will be along to help.

I do however remember the anxiety at that time abut how much DS took in food and milk. He did eat solids quite well by 8 months I seem to rememeber but was very distracted when it came to breastfeeding so I'm sure his milk intake went down quite a lot by then.

Hi! my 1st dd was the same. We always struggled to get the recommended 500ml into her. She seems to have developed well tho. She was always much better at eating her solids so we used to sneak dairy into any meal we could (cheese sauce over veg , yogs, cheese on toast, milk in mashed potatoes, porrige for breakfast, etc). She seemed to be better as she got older and is now quite happy to have a couple of cups of cows milk a day. On reflection, she probably suffered from gastric reflux as she used to make a real fuss. My 5mth twins have been doing the same and the doc diagnosed reflux which apparently improves the more they're able to be upright. If he's putting on weight and having a reasonable amount of fluids generally I wouldn't worry too much.
