Tabitha is 9 months old and has 3 feeds a day, I am 35 and had a hard time getting pregnant so will try for a 2nd one soon. Problem is I would like to have a bit of fun first - a few glasses of wine and so forth! I feel really selfish when I think of taking the breast away ......but I want a bit of me back....I also don't think I want to BF when (if) I get pregnant again. Any advise welcome on takling weaning/ carrying on?????

Yes, I made that decision recently, took about 4 weeks to complete the process, I felt I wanted to get into decent bras again, have a nice drink and eat what I want, my son is healthy, growing well and is on 3 good meals a day, so I started with one bottle follow on milk a day, one week later 2 and final week 3, he didn't even blink...in fact I think he likes the follow milk. He is 8.5 mnths.

It is a personal thing at the end.

Stipny, You have done so so well bfing for 9 months and have given her the best possible start in life, if you want to get your own life back, I say go for it! I was lucky that Isaac would take the bottle well so managed to go out leaving DH with a bottle at 6 months. If I had drunk too much the night before, he'd have a bottle in the morning and then back on breast in the afternoon. I say the key thing is to do it really slowly i.e. drop one feed for a week and then another the following week (or even slower). She's going to have stop having breast at some point so if timing's the essence, why not now?
