I gave birth on Tuesday, so far breastfeeding is going very well. Am a little concerned though as I have random hard lumps in my breasts - is this normal, or is it going to cause me problems?

Hiya - perfectly normal, it's your milk ducts backing up. It can get v sore. I remember feeling like I had golf balls under the skin. Try massaging them while feeding on that side to break them down a bit (and in the shower). They should be a bit better after a feed. Your body will adjust eventually - but it can take up to a few weeks.

Keep an eye that they don't get red and hot though, as it can be mastitis. If that happens see your GP ASAP.

Thanks Novia - I'm on antibiotics anyway at the moment so doubted it would be mastitis, just couldn't remember it from last time :)
