My DS wouldn't breastfeed at birth and we're having to formula feed. We're using Aptimil first milk. Periodically my son gets really uncomfortable and strains and strains to poo or fart. This can go on all day and when he does finally manage to go, his poo is extremely runny. (sorry - TMI) Have no idea what is causing this and what to do about it. Have tried Infacol, Gripe Water and switching to Dr Browns anti-colic bottles for the night feeds. Is it the formula that is causing this? Is it wind? Am wondering if it's worth changing formula brand? DS still wants to feed every 2 and a half hours but I'm concerned that I'm feeding and feeding him and nothing is coming out the other end - is the feeding making it worse?
