How long can you really leave steriliser water?

Just realised that we actually didn't change the water for 27 hours as opposed to the 24 you're supposed to...and LO has had a bottle in that time. Will it do him any harm or do you think we might be ok? The bottles are always thoroughly washed before we put them in, but the water was three hours over the recommended amount...

Absolutely no risk whatsoever to your baby - that's just my common sense to be honest. Haven't got a degree in sterilising or anything ! The most important part of cleaning the bottles is the hot and thorough wash you give them which removes milk traces. Call your Hv though if you're worried.

Ah cool. I was hoping the hot wash would have removed milk traces and that there's maybe a few hours more protection on the steriliser and they just say 24 hrs as its easiest to remember...
