Variflow query

Am I right in saying that the whole point of the variflow teats is that they allow the baby to drink the amount they want? Does the teat have a cross or something on it that open when the baby sucks?

It's been suggested that I may've switch to variflow teats for my 15wk old DD who is teething. Why might that help her?

Thanks

You're right in your understanding, they have a cross at the top which opens as much as the baby wants. Am not sure why it would help with teething, if anything I would think it may disrupt the feed if they chew on the teat for comfort they'll end up with a massive amount of milk. Unless I'm missing something?!
