Will using a dummy have an effect with breastfeeding? Also, are bibs necessary?

My eldest had a dummy for the first 6 months and no problems with ebf. Youngest prefers her thumb! I never used bibs but I guess it depends how much they dribble!

A dummy can interfere with breastfeeding, but often does not. They are best avoided during the first 6 weeks while breastfeeding is being established, and thereafter with caution as they can affect weight gain.

There is a potential for problem but many breastfeeding mothers use them - as long as you are aware of the pitfalls.

Bibs- generally breastfed babies don't posset as much as bottlefed counterparts, but some still do. All babies are different.
Many mothers never need a bib or muslin while breastfeeding- others get through dozens!
Don't buy too many until you get to know your baby.
