Screaming every night.

Sorry, I ask far too many questions on here. DS is 11 weeks and ebf. Every single night at this time he roots for milk and when I try to feed him he screams. He then screams because he's hungry. For hours. Please help, I can't do this every night.

He's happy sucking my finger but won't take boob.

Dummy?
My DTs were ebf but both had dummies.

DaleyBump · 12/02/2014 22:48

He's actually hungry, though.

Sounds maybe like overtiredness - what is he like sleep wise up to 11pm?

DaleyBump · 12/02/2014 23:10

He just doesn't sleep during the day Confused

Oh, I feel for you Daley, that must be hard work.

Presumably you've tried all the usual tricks to get a nap out of your ds?

Maybe you could try offering a feed at about 10.30pm to try and preempt the fussing/screaming?

DaleyBump · 12/02/2014 23:22

I have, he'll sleep in the sling but only for an hour max. I start trying to feed him at about 9 but I'll try starting earlier. Thanks a lot :)

Have you had him checked for tongue tie?

kazza446 · 12/02/2014 23:28

My ds is the same... Think it is over Stimulation. He's great until about 6pm then becomes very grouchy and unsettled. Constantly rooting for boob. Eventually settles about midnight. Bathed him at 930pm with me and still trying to get him to sleep. He's been on the breast for almost 2 hours now. Won't take a dummy and won't sleep unless he's on my chest. He's 6 week old. It could be colic. I'm going to invest in some infacol tomorrow..any tips on self settling would be great. This is my 4th child. Had no.problems what so ever with other 3, argh! Good luck Daley x

GingerMaman · 12/02/2014 23:30

The not feeding part may suggest that he may have silent reflux. How is he during the day?

DaleyBump · 12/02/2014 23:31

I have, no tongue tie but he does have lip tie. It's not a problem though.

Sorry Kazza, I'm no help! Good luck to you too :)

He has reflux but he won't cry at all during the day.

And he feeds fine.

My ds was the same in the early days and looking back I think he was overtired. He also suffered with colic, so worth checking that out - just to note for kazza Infacol did nothing for him but Colief did. You can buy it over the counter but its expensive, so ask your gp/health visitor to prescribe it for you.

kazza446 · 13/02/2014 23:33

Thanks moonmrs

He has been great tonight, like a different child but my other 3 kids were at nanas after school so he had a nap at tea time. Def think that's my wee man's problem. He is so flipping nosey. Only taken me half hour, 1 boob to settle him tonight. He is on my chest, nuzzled in mind, farting like a trooper!

Hope you've had a better night Daley
