Night feeds

My 5mth old DS currently has a breastfeed at around 1.30am. Other than that he has 3 feeds in the day, two of which he has now started having solids at too and one feed before bed at 7.30pm ish. His breakfast is about 7-7.30am. At what age should I eliminate this night feed, any suggestions? thanx

When I had dd (now 26 months) the advice was to wait until 6 months but not sure if this has changed. I'm sure someone knows though...

I'm still doing night feeds for my 6 month old ds so you don't have to eliminate them but then I'm very, very tired

How easy would it be for you to eliminate it? Could you replace it with a feed you wake him for at around 10.30pm or whenever you go to bed? My dd was going through the night at around 8 weeks and so had eliminated night feeds for herself. Do you think your ds would cope without it? If so, why not give it a go? If you think it would be v. problematic it's no problem to continue with it unless you're really tired.

Hi,
I too have an 8 month old ds.He is on 2 meals a day and mostly breastfeeds for his drinks.I bf in the morning in bed which is a lovely way to wake up.He has another long bf about 10.30 ish.He then has dinner (before his bf because i was advised by nct to give bf first but he was then content to fully bf and refused solids ! ).I give him a short bf whenever hes ready after lunch. He then has a bf mid afternoon,Solids at tea (quite late Im afraid ).We have another 2 bfs during the evening. He wakes at least once during the night, but I have got the hang of feeding lying down, so we snuggle up and go back to sleep together.I do get tired because i have 2 other older children and a demanding job.Being able to settle ds off in such a lovely way is a great thing for me and i really enjoy it.Its kind of making up for the times i cant be there,Everyone is differrent, and i know the time will come when i have to stop the night feed, but for now its no real hassle, and i treasure this time which will pass all too quickly.
Good luck and i hope you get some sleep soon.
