Feeling sore in one breast. The same place that had mastitis a couple of years ago when I was feeding DS. DD's 5mo and we've had no problems yet but I've now been feeling sore for a few days and it's gradually getting worse.

I feel like I should know all this, but what should I be doing to avoid this turning into mastitis? As lovely as putting my feet up for the next week would be, it's not really possible with a toddler and a baby.

Try hand expressing in a hot shower if you can, massage in downward strokes towards the nipple.
I also find filling a (clean obviously!) nappy with hot water and putting it on the affected boob before feeding/expressing helps.
Finally feed/express off that side as much as you can.

I found getting into a hot bath and then massaging downwards with a comb really helped.

And switching DD's position every time she fed off that breast, in case it helped her "get to" the affected bit more easily to drain it.

Hot bath been had. Expressed a fair bit. Bath was all milky!

I'll try getting her to feed in different positions tomorrow.

Thank you. Will update.
