breast feeding and work

Ds is 5 months and ebf. Next month I am going to be starting some supply teaching, 2 days per week. I am struggling to get my head around a few things.

First, ds won't take a bottle. He doesn't get upset with it, just kind of grins and chews on it, but no milk is drunk! Any tips would be appreciated.

Secondly, how long do you think I will be able to go after feeding ds before I need to express to prevent becoming engorged? Going into different schools at short notice means it could be pretty awkward to try and get breaks to express.
Please tell me your experiences... thanks.

Have you tried a cup? The free flow sort is best - either the TT ones or I used Tesco value cups with the valve taken out.

If you could express at lunchtime it would be best, but you could make it till 3. I'd wear breastpads though, and maybe learn to hand express so you could take the edge off if it was painful

Thanks for your reply. I think I will have to try a cup.
If I could manage til lunch and then express a bit I think that would be fine, so that's really encouraging thanks!

I went back to work at 6 months.

At first I expressed at lunch time, but gradually I managed to go longer until I was expressing when I got home.

DS would only take a bottle at nursery, nowhere else. And he seemed to work out how long he could go happily without milk too, so was only having 1 bottle (about 5oz) in a 10 hr day.

He made up for it feeding at home. And now he's 1 he just has cow's milk when I'm not around and dropped the bottle quite happily.
