10 mo biting and refusing bf...your thoughts

10 mo old has started to bite during feeding. I say no to her firmly and then she gets very upset and then will not feed at all. bf my other dc for 2 and 3 yrs so am no novice, but am not sure why dd is doing this. When bitten by other kids they only had to see the look on my face and then didn't do it again. Trying not to be scared...your views would be appreciated. Do you think a baby can go off bf?

Dd self weaned at 10 months; she didn't bite but, literally, one day just basically said no more and dropped her last two feeds. I didn't force her after but offered it a few times and she showed zero interest. Perhaps she's just telling you she doesn't want to?

Oh no! she may be ready to stop but I don't know if I am phoolani. Shall keep trying (a little) but won't force, my other dc self weaned but just not when they were so little.

My DS did exactly the same at 9 months, I took that as a sign that it was time to stop BF - the biting bloody hurt!!

Persevere, gently, for a while if you're not quite ready. But be prepared; as the old saying goes, You can take a baby to the breast, but you can't make it drink!

There's lots of information here on Kellymom . My DS1 bit me a few times when his mouth was sore as his top teeth were coming through. It really wasn't nice, but he got through it, and while it took me a week or two to not be tense at every feed half expecting him to bite, it was soon over and we carried on like before.
