When did your nipples stop feeling sore?

Dd is 5 days old and although it's still pretty much agony when she latches on, the pain isn't lasting for quite so long.
With ds (6 years old) the first pain free feed I had was when he was 12 weeks old (had mastitis/blocked ducts etc) so was expecting the same sort of time scale.
Is it possible for nipples to feel a bit less painful this soon? I have started to get my hopes up now!

Mine stopped being painful somewhere around the 4 week mark I think. They still get sore if she yanks them around during a feed but at 6 weeks it's mainly comfortable feeding now.

With my DD it took about six weeks, with DS (now 10 weeks old) it took about a week. I think your nipples are more hardy second time round!

I had no pain at all ever until dc3 due I think to a delay in my milk coming in. I am positive latch was correct etc, just was the sheer amount if time at the breast. Possibly not helpful now but encouraging maybe?! Assume you have had your latch observed? Baby can't have too much nipple and breast in their mouth!

Thanks Smile
Yes I've had my latch observed and it's fine although a bit of a struggle to get her to take enough in her mouth! Luckily we have a midwife who's come out to see us and she just happens to be a breast feeding counsellor which is fab!
I was thinking the difference may be that I left ds to comfort suck when he'd finished feeding but I'm trying not to do that with dd. We shall see if it helps...

Not quite sure exactly as the fog still hasn't quite lifted but I did notice yesterday that they don't hurt any longer Grin. DD is 18 days old.
Good luck, the pain too shall pass.
