Spacing out night feeds

DD is five months and still feeding every three hours during the night (ebf), but quite often happily goes 4 - 4 1/2 hours during the day. I'm keen to try and start spacing the night feeds out and advice that I have read says to feed her more during the day so she 'tanks up' and doesn't need it during the night.

I've been trying this for a couple of weeks and it just isn't working - she's still wanting just as many feeds at night and if I try and stretch them out she just cries.

I just wondered if anyone had had any luck spacing out the day feeds and finding this had a knock-on effect in also spacing out night feeds, as the baby gets used to not eating as frequently?

I did. DS was full in reverse cycling at this age and it was driving me mad!

I fed him at least two hourly in the day, often at home somewhere quiet and boring. Was a far but of effort but paid off.
