I still bf ds2 and he is showing no signs of wanting to wean yet. I enjoy feeding him and want to continue until he no longer wants bf and self weans but I am exhausted.

I bf my other dcs for quite a long time and felt the same at this stage with them, suddenly very tired, became anaemic and lost weight.

Ds2 is fed at about 6 am and usually once during the day before his nap, sometimes after nap too as he wakes unhappy and its the only thing that stops him crying and he asks to be fed and then at bedtime and he wakes in the night 2-3 times and bf is the only thing that gets him back to sleep.

Is there a good supplement I could take or diet change I could make to give me more energy, I feel drained literally and have lost so much weight in the last few weeks despite eating well.

I eat pate on toast, or hummous on toast or marmite on toast every day for breakfast or lunch and drink loads of water.

Haven't lost weight though but it helps with the anaemia. DS is 20 months and breastfeed about 2-4 times a day.

Thanks, will try those for breakfast, think I just need something a bit more high calorie. I keep waking in the night absolutely starving.

Avocado is the most calorific natural food. Have a bacon and avocado bun!? Pate has lots of calories and iron, and you can add a sweet chutney.

I never did lose weight breastfeeding........

I find staying hydrated makes the most difference to my energy levels, that and a very early night once a week. I've tried supplements but they don't seem to have the same affect.

I'm usually about 9 and a half stone but will all four pregnancies put on about four stone, it goes after the first few months but this time I'm now 9 stone and looking and feeling a bit rubbish, I feel too thin and tired and bony, the last month or so I can't lie in the bath as the bone at base of my back hurts and hip bones stick out. I'd been having a complain shake every day but it hasn't really made a difference.

Will try avocado and drinking more water.

I reckon seaweed is a good thing if you can get it - full of iron, plus iodine and trace minerals. Kelp pills are available. Meanwhile, Floradix is a great, gentle way of getting iron into you, tho it tastes revolting, I take the pills. Pricey but worth it. Also spatone - basically mineral water with a really high iron content. Check your B vits, too, v important for energy and easily depleted. Solgar do good vit supplements.
