Dd is 23 weeks and is teething, she has 2 teeth already and clamps down on anything that goes in her mouth including me!! I have tried lots of different thing but have decided to express and feed via a bottle except night feeds ( she never bited at night??? ) my question us am trying to introduce 1 formula feed so to ease the amount if expressing but she is refusing !! Can I mix formula with breast milk?? And what ratio ??

Yes you can mix formula with ebm, in any proportion you choose. If you need help to stop the biting google kellymom biting or give one of the bfing helplines a call.

Are you feeding at night in a different position?

naty1 · 25/01/2014 15:03

Have you tried putting them down and telling them off straight away.
I think I only got bitten 3 times until 14m when I stopped

Hi, thanks for reply , no same position at night, however last night was terrible she refused bottle and breast all night and was in so much pain with her teeth . I have not offered her the breast since as she really hurt me last night. She has only taken one bottle off me today but has eaten porridge and veg purée for lunch gonna try her with another bottle in a bit. Hoping for a better night tonight. :)

Yeah I have tried taking her off, saying no, pushing her into the breast so she lets go ( she doesn't just bites harder) the pain is soooo bad I can't do it anymore , :( had teeth marks on nipple today

Is she too young for paracetamol/ ibuprofen?
Once you deal with the teething pain she may feel more like eating.
I believe you can mix but never tried you will have to discard as you would any unused formula.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 25/01/2014 18:09

Try her with ibruprofen, its much better with dental pain than paracetamol. Other things you could try is freezing a banana or some of her milk and making a lollipop with it. Big chunks of cucumber to chew on or a cool, clean wet flannel, they love to chew on those too. Have you got a teething gel like dentinox you could apply before feeding?

Have you tried calling one of the bfing helplines? They might have some suggestions to try Smile

Bexmathews · 25/01/2014 18:56

Yep we are using ibuprofen and dentinox and the granules, she is having a really tough time on it. Think I will just pop to the GP on Monday just to check its nothing else. Will express for a couple of days ans maybe re try latching again xxx thanks again for all your replies

I save the ibuprofen for night lasts longer and works faster although I give with milk:)
Are these first 2 (as the bottom 2 Central were not too bad )yes if they don't seem to be getting better with pain relief or is constantly fussy no harm seeing gp
