Hi everyone! I have a 9 weeks old boy and I breastfed him for about 6 weeks. In the last few weeks I have started to give him more and more bottle as my milk supply was decreasing and he was screaming continuously... Now he barely takes breast ( only at night), I do express milk 3 times a day, but in the last 48h only manage to get about 2oz from both breasts at the time... I just wondering if there is still a chance for me to re-it's abolish breastfeeding? As I am not ready to give up on it. Ideally I would like to keep at least one bottle feed in the evening, so daddy can participate. Please help as I have no idea what to do.....

I am no expert, but it might be worth trying a Supplemental-Nursing-System. Basically it's a device where you wear a bottle of formula round your neck with a fine tube connecting it to your nipple. It gets the baby to latch on and be satisfied with the formula milk coming via the fine tube, and stimulating your milk supply at the same time so eventually breastfeeding can be (re)established.

However, when I had one I found it wasn't that easy to get to work - you have to get the bottle at just the right height for the liquid to flow. When it did eventually work it was good.

Best thing to do is spend a couple of days in bed doing a lot of skin to skin with baby. Or keeping baby very close.mlet baby suck on breast several times a day even if no milk to help stimulate production. Drink fennel tea and eat oatmeal. You can also try to pump more often to increase breast milk. I notice my milk decreased a little when I stopped feeding from breast at 3am and gave formula instead. I have a lot of breast milk and will pump and breastfeed. I pump around 6am, 12pm, 3pm, 7pm, 11pm. In addition, breastfeed occasionally. Reason I pump so much is my oversupply causes milk to spray out and my baby gets upset and won't take breast after....so I pump almost all his feeds.

Make sure u rest and have a healthy varied diet with enough calories for ur milk supply as well.

Good luck, elena.

Key to relactation is to express often - at least 8 x in 24 hours inc at night.

Great you have contacted LLL.

Rule of thumb is it takes the same no of weeks to relactate as it is since you last fully bf, so think of this as being about 3 weeks.
