Weird purply/black bump on nipple! Help!

What is it? It appeared yesterday morning, on the top/side of my nipple. I had missed a feed, could that be related? It doesn't hurt but it looks horrid. I've been BFing for a year now and have not had anything like it...

I've never heard of anything like this. Could it be a vein, a bit like a broken vein or varicose vein? Or a bruise? Has your LO bitten you recently?

I guess a trip to the GP would be the only way to find out for sure!

Nope, not a vein and not been bitten. Even doctor google has no answers! I've got to take LO for his MMR on Monday so if it hasn't gone by then I will get them to take a look.
